Students who enter J. L. Stanford speaking a language other than English are tested for fluency. Non-English fluent students receive English language instruction according to the following model:
Sixth grade students in the 6A class of the English Language Development Program will have two periods of ELD daily. The 6B class will have one period of ELD daily.
Seventh and eighth grade students in all levels of the program take English Language Development in place of the other English and Social Studies listings. ELD will account for two periods daily of required course work. Their other selections should be made following instructions laid out for all other 7th and 8th graders.
Please consult with your ELD teacher if further clarification is necessary.
