Reading Support Classes
6th Grade Reading Support
Students in the reading classes will attend reading class for one period four times a week, during regularly scheduled periods. The reading class will be in addition to the student's regular English class. The reading classes will be kept small to allow for one-on-one support from the reading teacher. Students in these classes will receive instruction in reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development using a variety of texts. Our goal is to increase students' reading comprehension and writing skills to help ensure their success in school. Because of scheduling, reading class students will miss one of their regular 6th grade classes.
7th Grade Reading Support
Students in this reading class will attend reading class for one period four times a week, during a regularly scheduled period. The reading class will be in addition to the student's regular English class. The reading class will be kept small to allow for one-on-one support from the reading teacher. Students in this class will receive instruction in reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development using a variety of texts, with special emphasis on texts used in seventh grade English and social studies classes. Students in this class will also receive support with writing assignments for their core classes. 7th grade reading class will take the place of another elective.
